SINGAPORE: The 250kg World War II bomb that was discovered at a construction site along Tanah Merah Coast Road was successfully disposed of on Thursday (Apr 2) morning.
In response to CNA's queries, Changi Airport Group (CAG) said that the disposal of the war relic was "completed successfully early this morning" and did not impact airport operations.
"The infrastructure and systems in the vicinity of the site were checked and no issues were observed."
The war relic, discovered during construction works at 4.55am on Tuesday, was assessed as unsafe to move by the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
It had said that it would carry out an on-site disposal of the bomb between 2.30am and 4.30am on Thursday.
A map of the disposal site provided by the police showed the location as within the Changi East development area, where Terminal 5 is planned.
Police said then they were working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, CAG, SAF and the Singapore Civil Defence Force to ensure that the controlled disposal of the war relic was carried out safely.
