Rain can be a real dampener on your holiday, especially if you’ve planned an itinerary of outdoor activities. The InterContinental Singapore wants to make the most out of bad weather by offering guests a voucher if their plans are cancelled.
The Rain Resist Bliss Package is a “first-of-its-kind rain insurance package”, the hotel said on its website. Eligible guests will receive a voucher that is worth the rate of a one-night’s stay if their plans are disrupted by rain during their stay.
However, the package is only applicable to guests staying in Junior Suites, One-Bedroom Suites, Royal Suites, Ambassador Suites and Presidential Suites, which start from S$850 per room per night.

The package has already received media attention around the world. “I was chatting with a group of friends about what’s next in luxury travel and one of them jokingly commented that being able to guarantee good weather would be the next level of ultimate luxury travel,” the hotel’s general manager, Andreas Kraemer, told CNN. From there, the idea for the package was born.
According to the hotel, rainfall data captured by the National Environmental Agency Weather Station is used to automatically trigger the eligibility of the vouchers. Guests do not have to show their itinerary.
Claims are triggered when rain duration exceeds 120 cumulative minutes within any four-hour block of time between 8am to 7pm. For example, if it rains from 4pm to 5.30pm, and again from 6pm to 6.30pm, a voucher will be given.
The package is only available for a limited time, and the vouchers must be redeemed within six months from the date of issuance.
