SINGAPORE: A 41-year-old man was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on Friday (Aug 12) after he allegedly used a fake Malaysian driving licence to apply for a pass.

Police received a report about a man who allegedly tried to use the forged document to apply for a multiple journey pass on Aug 12, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a news release.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer had detected the forged driving licence during the enrolment process for the pass.

SPF conducted investigations in collaboration with ICA and the man was arrested by officers from the Woodlands Police Division on the same day.

The man will be charged in court on Saturday with the offence of using as genuine a forged document. If found guilty, he faces up to four years in prison, a fine, or both.

"The police will take tough enforcement action against those who attempt to enter Singapore illegally," SPF said.
