SINGAPORE: British rock band Muse, renowned DJ Fatboy Slim and reggae legends Toots and the Maytals will be headlining next year's Formula One night race in Singapore, set to take place from Sep 20 to 22.
Organisers Singapore Grand Prix announced on Monday (Dec 3) the first wave of its entertainment highlights, which will also include American roots rock band Larkin Poe.
AdvertisementBritish rock band Muse, known for their smash hits such as Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome and Plug In Baby, has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and won two Grammy and two Brit awards. The trio, made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard, will rock the stage at Zone 4 on Sep 21.
Renowned DJ and music producer Fatboy Slim has been creating iconic beats in tracks such as Right Here, Right Now, The Rockafeller Skank and Weapon of Choice since 1996. The dance music veteran is set to electrify fans at Zone 1 on Sep 21.
Known for popularising the reggae genre, Jamaican legends Toots and the Maytals have been grooving audiences since the 1960s with songs including 54-46 Was My Number.
The band, led by Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, has performed at music festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury, and also made a special television appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the US. They will perform at Zone 1 on Sep 20 and at Zone 4 on Sep 22.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAmerican roots rock band Larkin Poe, led by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, will make their debut in Singapore over the race weekend. Known for their Southern American-inspired music, the group was named the best discovery at the Glastonbury festival in 2014.
Their new album Venom and Faith features Rebecca's powerful vocals in the song Ain't Gonna Cry and Megan's lap steel in Good and Gone. They will perform at Zone 1 on Sep 21 and at Zone 4 on Sep 22.
Early-bird tickets are available for purchase until May 8, 2019.
