SINGAPORE: Several roads will be closed to vehicles this Saturday (Jul 23) to facilitate the first preview of the National Day Parade (NDP) at the Marina Bay floating platform.

Traffic delays are expected along Raffles Avenue, Temasek Avenue, Bayfront Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, Republic Boulevard, Robinson Road, Cecil Street, Collyer Quay and Nicoll Highway.

The police have urged members of the public to use public transport to travel to these areas.

During the closures, access will only be granted to authorised vehicles and police and emergency vehicles.

"Auxiliary police officers and Singapore Armed Forces marshals will be deployed at the affected junctions to assist and direct motorists," said the police in a news release on Wednesday.

Motorists travelling to Suntec City and Marina Square from Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, and Bayfront Avenue should use alternate routes via Nicoll Highway or Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard.

Parking restrictions along the affected roads will be strictly enforced and vehicles found parking illegally or causing obstruction will be towed, said the police.

During the NDP preview, the public should refrain from aerial activities like flying unmanned aircraft, kite-flying and hoisting of tethered balloons in the area, the police added.
