During each phase, the number of vacancies and applicants will be updated.

"As parents can withdraw and make changes throughout the registration period, parents should take note that these numbers can change.

"Schools will not be able to provide any additional information beyond what is available on the MOE Primary 1 registration website," said MOE.

DATA FROM PREVIOUS YEARS

Data from last year's Primary 1 registration exercise is also available online. This includes the number of vacancies, applicants, and balloting information for each phase in every school.

Parents can also view a list of schools within 2km of their residence and check if these schools were oversubscribed in specific phases during last year's registration exercise.

“In selecting a primary school, we encourage parents to consider a wide stable of schools and explore how these schools’ unique programmes and offerings can best meet their child’s learning needs, interests, and strengths,” said MOE.

It added that schools reasonably close to home should be considered to reduce a child’s commuting time. Schools that are located further from a child’s home could also mean fewer transport options for them.

WARNING AGAINST FALSE INFORMATION

Parents should use the official residential address on their NRICs when registering their child for Primary 1.

“A child who gains priority admission into a school through the home-school distance category is required to reside at the address used for registration for at least 30 months from the commencement of the Primary 1 registration exercise on Jul 2,” said MOE.

"In cases where this condition is not met, MOE will transfer the child to another school with vacancies."

Parents who wish to register their child using the address of the child’s grandparent or a caregiver should declare the alternative childcare arrangement by completing the Declaration of Alternative Child-Care Arrangement form online between Jul 1 and Aug 1.

“Parents should submit their declaration early as they must receive the approval email from MOE before they can register their child for Primary 1 using the caregiver’s address,” said the ministry.

Any registrant found to have provided false information during the registration exercise will be referred to the police for investigation, it added.

"If a child is found to have been successfully registered in a school based on false information, MOE has and will transfer the child to another school with remaining vacancies after all eligible children have registered," said the ministry.
