iQiyi subscribers, don't be shocked if you see a familiar face on the streaming platform. Singaporean hip-hop artiste Shigga Shay has joined the latest season of the hit Chinese reality show The Rap Of China which airs on iQiyi.
The Rap Of China centres around a group of rappers battling it out each week until a winner is crowned.
Shigga Shay appeared in the first episode of The Rap Of China's new season which aired on May 4. In the episode, Shigga Shay can be seen impressing judges with his powerful rap which comprises a mix of Mandarin and English. He proclaims at the end, to huge applause: "The Rap Of China, this is more than a game. Shigga Shay is in the building, remember the name."
The judges praised his rap and writing, and awarded him with a gold chain – putting him to the next round of the competition.
This is not Shigga Shay's first appearance in the franchise. In 2023, he appeared on the show as a guest performer where he performed the song Bo Beh Zao (Hokkien for incomparable) with Taiwanese rapper E.so.
In an interview segment during the show, Shigga Shay said that he hopes to challenge himself this year by entering the competition.
