Fans of Malaysian rocker Awie will get one last chance to catch the legendary musician performing solo in Singapore. The concert is set to take place at The Star Theatre on Jul 27.
Titled Awie Solitario Journey, the concert will see the celebrated singer-actor belting out hits from his solo albums as well as regaling attendees with stories and memories from his decades-long career.
Tickets for Awie Solitario Journey are now available for purchase via Sistic, with prices going between S$68 and S$258. Those who purchase the latter option will be entitled to a meet-and-greet session with Awie and will walk away with a limited-edition tote bag, a poster and an event lanyard and pass.
Awie, who is the frontman of the rock band Wings, said in an interview with Malaysian media in April that his Aug 3 concert at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur will mark the end of his solo career.
"As a band, we will continue to rock for a good nine years before calling it a day," he told Malaysian paper Berita Harian.
Wings will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025.
Awie, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, co-founded Wings in 1985. The group released a string of successful albums that shaped Malaysia's rock music scene including Belenggu Irama (Shackles Of Rhythm), Hukum Karma (Karma's Law) and Teori Domino (Domino Theory).
Awie left Wings in 1993 due to disagreements and went on to have a successful career as an actor and solo singer. In 2002, he rejoined the group and has been performing with the band since; Wings' last performance in Singapore was in July 2023.
