Edwin Goh has left Mediacorp. The 29-year-old actor made the announcement in an Instagram Reel he posted on Tuesday (Dec 5), which included clips of him returning his staff pass he’d had for 14 years.
Edwin said in the clip: “I just wanna say a big thank you to Mediacorp for the years of growth, experience and opportunities, and literally giving me a space to grow up in.”
He added that it was now time for him to step out of his comfort zone in order to continue to grow.
Edwin shared that he’s been working in retail in what looks to be a perfume counter at a department store. He has also been taking acting classes in Australia to hone his craft and going for auditions. He didn’t mention crocheting.
Edwin and his actress girlfriend Rachel Wan moved to Sydney earlier this year.
In a statement, The Celebrity Agency (TCA) said: “We would like to share that Edwin's contract with The Celebrity Agency has come to an end. We wish Edwin all the best in his future endeavours and look forward to working with him again.”
Edwin received many messages of support for his announcement, including from his celebrity pals. Cynthia Koh wrote, “You will always have me cheering you on”, while Romeo Tan wrote, “Yolo!”
Other stars that wished him well include Zoe Tay, Priscelia Chan, Yvonne Lim, Bonnie Loo and Lin Meijiao. Local rapper Yung Raja wrote “FIGHTING SPIDERS GAAAAAANG”, in reference to Edwin’s acting debut at the age of 15 in the TV drama Fighting Spiders.
