SINGAPORE: A taxi driver will be charged in court on Tuesday (Jan 23) for allegedly pushing a driver during a dispute on an expressway, causing him to fall into a drain.

The 53-year-old man will be charged for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act causing hurt, police said in a news release on Monday.

On Sep 25 last year, the police were alerted at 5.14am to the incident involving the taxi driver and a 59-year-old sedan car driver along Lane 1 of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) towards Changi, near Stevens Road exit.

Investigations revealed that there was a road traffic accident between the two vehicles, whereby the car driver had rear-ended the taxi.

A verbal dispute ensued and during the dispute, the man allegedly pushed the car driver, causing him to fall into a drain, police said.

The car driver sustained multiple abrasions on his body and was taken conscious to hospital.

According to The Straits Times’ report, the man was a CityCab driver.

CNA has contacted ComfortDelGro, which owns CityCab, for more information.

If found guilty, the man may be jailed for up to a year, fined, or both.
