SINGAPORE: A 34-year-old driver was arrested on Thursday (Jul 7) afternoon, several hours after a lorry crashed into 11 vehicles on the Singapore-Malaysia Causeway.
The accident took place on the Causeway towards Woodlands Checkpoint at about 9.25am, the South Johor Bahru District Police said in a statement.
Apart from the lorry, the accident also involved a van, a bus and nine cars. Six of the vehicles are foreign registered while the remaining ones were registered in Malaysia.
Preliminary investigations found that the driver lost control of the lorry due to faulty brakes, said the police. The Malaysian man was arrested at about 1.15pm and tested negative for drugs, the police added.
There were no fatalities or injuries.
