SINGAPORE: A commuter who was seen trying to pull open train doors on more than one occasion intends to plead guilty, a district court heard on Thursday (Jan 4).

Vanessa Wang Zi Qi, a 47-year-old Singaporean listed as male in charge sheets, had his case heard again on Thursday morning.

Wang faces four charges – of causing annoyance to commuters at Braddell, Ang Mo Kio and Yio Chu Kang MRT stations in November and December by trying to pull open the doors, as well as for kicking a man's leg at Ang Mo Kio MRT station.

Asked to give an indication of how Wang would plead, Wang said through his lawyer Mr Jared Lee that he would be pleading guilty. The court arranged for Wang to plead guilty on Friday.

If convicted of public nuisance, an offender can be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$2,000 (US$1,500), or both.

The penalties for voluntarily causing hurt are a jail term of up to three years, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
