Are you one of the many content creators in Singapore looking to get your hard work and effort recognised? Well, your moment to shine might come soon. Mediacorp's content creator awards The Pinwheels is back for its third iteration and is open to all budding and experienced content creators, as well as professional filmmakers.
Inspired by the pinwheel-shaped logo of Mediacorp’s content creator network Bloomr.SG and supported by YouTube, The Pinwheels celebrates excellence in digital content creation and highlights Mediacorp’s commitment to nurturing local talent and growing the content creator ecosystem in Singapore.
Last year, local science content channel Just Keep Thinking scooped double honours as the winner of the Content Creator Of The Year and Best Newcomer categories.
This year's competition will feature 10 categories, including the brand-new Most Artistic Video category:
The Best Newcomer and Content Of The Year awardees stand to win a S$5,000 production grant, while the winner of Content Creator Of The Year will take home a S$10,000 production grant.
To get in on this, applicants will have to be creators who are Singaporean or Singapore permanent residents.
Interested applicants for all categories (except for Content Creator Of The Year whose finalists and eventual winner will be selected by Mediacorp) will have until 11:59pm on Jul 28 to submit their entries via this form. Do note that submitted videos must have been produced in Singapore for the Singapore market and uploaded on any social media platform from Nov 1, 2022 to May 15, 2024.
A panel of industry professionals will evaluate all entries in terms of their theoretical aspects (such as the motivations and inspiration behind each video production) and practical aspects (such as the concept, writing and quality of each production), with each having a weightage of 20 per cent and 80 per cent respectively.
Finalists of The Pinwheels will be revealed in September 2024, with the winners set to be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
More information can be found on the official website of The Pinwheels.
