SINGAPORE: A fire has broken out at a shophouse in Chinatown, eyewitnesses reported on Saturday (Aug 4).
Thick smoke spewed out of what appeared to be a coffeeshop at the junction of Neil Road and Keong Saik Road, photos sent to Channel NewsAsia show.

Firefighters and several Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles were seen in the area and a witness told Channel NewsAsia that there was also an ambulance in the area.
